Bringing Evidence to Practice: Treating Osteoarthritis

Course Description
Osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most common and disabling conditions. The older humans get, the more likely they are to develop OA. A diagnosis of OA is not uncommon and there are many evidence-based protocols patients can follow to maintain a healthy joint and to have an active lifestyle. Current research suggests that OA is no longer purely a wear and tear disease of the joint. This understanding provides a more encompassing understanding of OA and gives RMTs some guidelines to follow to maximize treatment and management outcomes. In this 3 hour presentation, attendees will learn how to follow an evidence-based framework for clients who suffer with pain and disability related to OA to achieve better outcomes using a combination of hands-on interventions and exercise guidance.
