Happy New Year!

The dreaded 2020 is behind us. Now is the time to look forward and to make 2021 a better year.

Looking for optimism

It is difficult to be optimistic during a worldwide pandemic that has altered the way we live.  Losing control of so many aspects of our lives and living with overwhelming uncertainty has been a struggle for so many of us.  However, if we focus on the negative we can end up feeling miserable and looking dour. The pandemic allowed me to re-evaluate what was important in life and inspired me to make decisions that would be better for me personally and professionally.  I spent a lot of my time during the past 4 years travelling around North America teaching courses, presenting at and attending conferences.  I love this work and lifestyle but it can be difficult.  A forced stop to the travel actually ended up being a positive because it forced me to look at other ways to deliver the material I think is so important for our community to embrace.

The Zoom Revolution

The lockdown during the spring and summer forced me to adapt to teaching courses online via Zoom.  Initially, this was not an ideal change, but it enabled me to reach learners and audiences from across the world.  Now, I am embracing technology and for 2021 every course I teach will be available with either online or in-person options, if health authority guidelines enable, of course.

Self-Directed Education

My biggest professional accomplishment for 2020 was launching my first self-directed course.  This was a massive undertaking that took me over 6 months to complete,  yet I still feel there is more to add?!  The course will be a living and growing organism which will continuously change and adapt as I learn more.  It includes everything I teach in my live courses but it has the added benefit of being self-paced with loads of material for learners to absorb.  It includes over 15 hours of lectures, videos and demonstrations.  There are quizzes, workbooks, and dozens of research papers for those who want to delve deeper into the material.   All participants also get lifetime access to the material.  Registration is currently open, but my next intake of supportive learning will be in April.  For more information please visit here:

The Manual and Movement Therapist’s Community

I am currently completing a monthly membership based learning community for all manual and movement therapists.  My objective is to highlight the important work that RMT’s and manual therapists do by having monthly topics and educational webinars presented on their specific topic of interest. I already have a great line up of presenters for the first 6 months.  The focus of this community will be on YOU!  What is important to you and what do you want to learn more about.  The material we cover and the discussions we have will be based on your input and requests.  My vision is to have it as a collaborative learning environment.  Each month will also include research reviews and practical discussions on how to apply this information to practice.

More details to follow in the next few weeks…
